Marshmallows are candies that are available in variety of colors, flavors and shapes, and are loved by children as well as adults alike. These soft, spongy and sweet candies were earlier made with marshmallow plants which are found on the side of large water bodies. These were also used for medicinal purposes to treat soar throats in children. However, the marshmallows that are found now are made by adding gelatin and egg whites to boiled sugar syrup, which is finally covered with powdered sugar. Moreover, other texturing agents are also added, and because of it, marshmallows have lost their medicinal properties. Recipe for Marshmallow Fruit Dip

Creme Marshmallow Fruit Dip

Ingredients
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 8 ounces marshmallow cream
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
Preparation

The first step in the process of making creme marshmallow dip is to soften the cream cheese. This can be done at room temperature by keeping it out of the refrigerator, an hour before you start making it. If you do not have much time, melt it in the microwave for 30 seconds on low power. Transfer the softened cream cheese into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Add marshmallow creme to it and mix well with a spoon. Fold in the vanilla and your creme marshmallow dip is ready to be enjoyed with the fruit of your choice. Adding cherry yogurt along with cream cheese would also be a great with marshmallow. You can also make this by adding orange juice or pineapple juice, however, do not add vanilla with it.

Marshmallow with Coconut Fruit Dip

Ingredients
  • 8 ounces marshmallow cream
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • ⅓ cup shredded coconut
  • mint leaves
  • 2 - 3 tablespoon red raspberry preserves
  • ¼ cup chopped walnut
Preparation

In a microwave-friendly bowl, take marshmallow cream and microwave for some time. Stop the microwave and add the raspberry preserves in between. Remove the bowl when the whole thing becomes soft. Place the coconut in another plate and roast in the microwave again for 2 - 3 minutes, frequently tossing it with a fork. Once this is done, put the coconut into the bowl that contains marshmallow cream, along with sour cream and walnuts.
