Here are some of the best American TV shows 2011 which you can watch and enjoy.

The Mentalist, CBS
Right now, the show is on its 3rd season and the way it's going on, I have to say it's entertaining and intelligent. The show revolves around Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) a mentalist who uses his extraordinary smartness to solve crimes. Why does he solve crimes? He's a consultant with the CBI and helps them fight bad guys. The show is witty, it's funny and is very gripping. The entire cast and crew of The Mentalist has received many awards and accolades and Mr. Jane has already been voted the favorite crime fighter of the year.

Glee, Fox
Since its debut in 2009, Glee has been one of the most critically and commercially acclaimed American TV show in the world. The plot revolves around a bunch of high school students and their love for music and dance. Glee is a very unusual TV show and many critics thought it would be quite a bore but to everyone's surprise Glee was a surprise hit and continues to dominate ratings on TV.

Off The Map, ABC
From the creators of Grey Anatomy and Private Practice, Off The Map is a story of good doctors who have been dropped in a jungle to save lives. Ben Keeton (Martin Henderson) plays the guy who sets up the clinic and Dr. Lily Brenner (Caroline Dhavernas) and her team of efficient doctors try to save lives in a South American jungle where people haven't heard the term "Humanity".

The Ellen DeGeneres Show, NBC
One of the most popular daytime talk shows on the American television, The Ellen DeGeneres Show is not only loved by women but also by men. Ellen DeGeneres is the most entertaining host I've ever seen. Started in 2003, this talk show continues to rule in daytime ratings and is one of the to watch. The show is made of music, love, celebrity interviews and lots of Ellen. Keep dancing!

American Idol, Fox
It's a show which is not only a craze in America but also all around the world. Since the beginning of the show in 2002, American Idol has been the most influential show in American television history. The search for the new American Idol begins every year when millions of people audition and show their singing talents. The judges Randy Jackson (2002-Present), Paula Abdul (2002-2009), Simon Cowell (2002-2010), Ellen DeGeneres (2010), Jennifer Lopez (2011-Present) Steven Tyler (2011-Present) do the tough job of selecting some of the best singers and giving them the chance of being an American Idol.

Family Guy, Fox
Don't ask me why Family Guy is such a , it has profanity, they make jokes on important matters surrounding our globe and the family is dysfunctional. But it's one of the most hilarious shows on television and I guarantee that you will not stop laughing once you see it. The show was canceled in between but the immense popularity and the cult following made Fox executives bring the show back and according to reports, the show is renewed till 2015.
