Google Expected to Announce Online Music Service

Apple recently accelerated past Google as the world’s most valued brand and company, but it’s unlikely that Google is going to settle for second place. The two companies are unique in the way that they create, nurture and share their technologies with the rest of the world. But more and more frequently, the two firms who once shared little in common now find themselves squaring off in competition for the same consumers. And while there’s no doubt that is going to be safe from any upstart music service that Google launches, it would be foolish to discount Google’s entry into the marketplace.

Google’s Android operating system for mobile devices is already outpacing Apple’s iPhone, albeit by utilizing a seemingly endless array of phone types and models. And just as Amazon’s music and online video service is likely to make waves in the near future, Google is probably going to make things happen that intrigue certain subsections of online music consumers. Already today, YouTube, which is owned by Google, announced that the site would be offering 3,000 movie titles that users could rent through its interface.

Google has been the number one company in the world for the past 4 years running, while Apple has slowly built the momentum it needed to overtake the number 1 spot. With iPads raging and iPhones still the coolest handheld out there, Google’s going to have to make some moves to get back on top. Their online music service might be the start of a climb back to glory.
