Mr. Lincoln faced many hardships in his life. His mother died when he was just nine years old. Lincoln’s family moved to Illinois in March, 1831. Macon County was the place where the family settled. Few months later, Abraham Lincoln moved out of Macon County and came to New Salem at the age of 22. In New Salem he started working as a clerk. In the month of April (1832) Lincoln got enlisted in the local militia. The breakout of Blackhawk war had lead the governor of Illinois calling for troops.
