Authentic Italian Pizza Recipe
The recipe that is given below will do two things to you; first it will save lots of money which you would have spent behind the hat you would have got from outside, and second, it will make you a popular chef amongst your friends and family. Making the Crust
Things Required
- Dry yeast (2 pkgs)
- Lukewarm water (2 cups)
- Salt (as per taste)
- Sugar (4 tablespoons)
- Sifted all purpose flour (4 cups)
- Cooking oil (2 tablespoons)
- Milk (2 cups)
- The first thing that you have to do is soften the yeast by mixing it in warm water in a pan, and then keep stirring it until it has completely dissolved. You can also try the
- After that, to this mixture, you have to add sugar and flour (at least two and a half cups) and also the milk (the amount of milk that you need depends on the amount of flour. So you might need some more or less milk) and mix it thoroughly.
- Then add the oil and the salt to this mixture and also put in the rest of the flour, mix it well and then knead it for another 10 to 15 minutes, or till you feel that it's been kneaded properly.
- Next, apply some grease in the insides of a bowl and place a piece of dough in it.
- Grease the piece of dough and then wrap it up using a damp piece of cloth and then place this in a warm place where the temperature will be around 80 to 85º.
- You have to keep it in this temperature for an hour or two. You will notice that the ball of dough increases in size.
- Remove it from the warm place, flatten it and place it in the refrigerator for at least half an hour, till it's hard enough to handle properly.
- Flatten it out using a roller pin, making sure that you maintain the correct thickness and diameter. The thickness should be around ¼ inches while the diameter has to be around 13 inches.
- Now oil baking sheets, using and then put the dough on this sheet. Next, using a fork, poke the dough at least 7 or 8 times, so that the baking can be done properly.
Making the Sauce
Things Required
- Garlic (2 cloves)
- Oregano (1 tablespoon)
- Salt (as per taste)
- Pepper (1 tablespoon)
- Romano cheese (grated, 1/3 cups)
- 2 large onions (sliced)
- Tomato paste (1 can)
- Italian style tomatoes (1 or 2 cans will do)
- Olive oil (4 tablespoons)
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded (½ lb)
