Best Summer Songs

Cause it's summer
Summer time is here
Yes it's summer
My time of year
Yes it's summer
My time of year

Stretched out on a blanket in the sand
Kids of all ages diggin' Disneyland
Rappin' on the C.B. radio in your van
We'll give a big "ten four" to the
truckin' man
Young boys playin' stick ball in the street
Fire hydrants help to beat the heat
Old man feeding pigeons in the square
Nighttime finds young lovers
walking there
In Atlantic City or out in Malibu
Or any where between, I'm telling you
When you feel those balmy breezes on your face
Summer time is the best time any place

Empowering Songs

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

Best Friend Songs

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
Oh I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

So Pumba, Pumba, stand by me, oh oh oh stand by me
Ooh stand, stand by me, stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains they should crumble to the sea
I won't cry
Pumba:
You won't cry?
Timon:
Noo I won't shed a tear
Pumba: Not shed tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

So Pumba, Pumba, stand by me, oh oh won't you stand by me
Ooh stand, stand by me, stand by me

Pumba:
Eeh, I don't think I like this sooong!

So Pumba, Pumba, stand by mee, oh oh won't you stand by me
Ooh stand, come on! stand by me, stand by me

Pumba:
Timon?
Timon:
Yes?
Pumba:
Can I sing the next song?
Timon:
Sure, as long as you stand by me!

Frogs:
Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me,
Oh oh ooh stand by me
I know you need me, stand by me, oh oh oh oh stand by me oooh heey."
- John Lenon

You may have all the push of the wind which you may need, you may have the strongest of oars and the toughest of rudders, but, without the sail you will be lost in ocean of helplessness and loneliness. In times of misery, it is always reassuring to turn back and find your best friend staring at you with his caring eyes. It is, as well, a blessed feeling to share the joys of life with your friend giving you a warm hug and saying, 'Way to go boy!' It surely is a gifted life to have your 'bestest' best singing by your side and to make this bond more special, here is a list of some heartfelt and touching best friend songs.

Top 10 Emo Songs

What is it about music and human moods or emotions? Light, breezy, poppy tracks are for those happy days, wailing rock and hardcore sound for the angry beast within and soulful, melodramatic tracks for the pensive or thoughtful mood. For angst and heartbreak, for days when you feel the whole world is against you, for the times when you do not want to live anymore and no one can understand what you are going through, the definitive genre is Emo. Emo music is not sad and sobby lyrics paired with classical or depressive music. Rather, it combines the explosive highs and stirring notes of rock music with deep, personal and very confessional lyrics. Emo tracks make excellent air guitar songs.

The genre of emo music is synonymous with mutinous, sullen teens, who are actually screaming their hearts out internally with greasy, scraggly hair and beaten up sneakers. Most emo bands dress this way too. Songs deal with a variety of personal problems or issues, with a very explanatory and depressive twist. Breaking up with a girlfriend, the unfairness of life, trying to get a girl to like you, a messed up first date... are a few examples. To really understand the flow of emo music and get you into the emo frame of mind, here's a small lyrical excerpt from Blink-182's I Miss You track:

Where are you and I'm so sorry
I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight
I need somebody and always
This sick strange darkness comes creeping on so haunting everytime

How To Create An Art From Photo?

Creating art from photo is currently a well-accepted way of home décor. This is a way to convert your favorite photo to a piece of art. Due to this you can make it as big as you require and beautify your home with it to give the place a tasteful atmosphere.

Two genres which are most well-approved for bringing about art from photo are perhaps impressionist and impasto.

Impressionist art is the variety of Degas, Monet, Renoir and Manet. This type of painting concentrates more on obscure images than conspicuously marked out pictures. A strong importance on light provides the painting a distinguished quality of expressing in various ways at different times of day and perception of moving. It is just like getting a glimpse of somebody or something moving. This kind is a symbol of distinguished visual positions. It utilizes bright and vibrant color shades and strokes of brush are short. Hues, light and moving are more focused in impressionist style, without any minute points. A painting generated in this type from your snapshot will fascinate you completely and will offer a tasteful aura to your drawing room.

On the other hand, impasto is a genre of Vincent Van Gogh or Rembrandt. In this sort, paint is made use of to create a textured look by using it in deep layers. The marks generated by brush or a painting knife, which is a metallic spatula utilized in place of brush, are obvious. This type of piece of art has three dimensional impact. An art from photo produced in this genre is remarkable because the inbuilt characters of the paints are more highlighted in it. It certainly provides an artistic look to your living room.

You can even have your photograph transformed to a piece of art by giclee sort of painting. Think you snapshot painted stylishly on giclee canvas. In this type of art, pictures are made by making use of archival grade inks, that are pigment-based, stable inks. Lots of people say that this kind of paintings resembles oil paintings. Giclee procedure can create numerous color shades and inks are administered with surprising accuracy, due to which the painting becomes fantastic with its high degree of minute facts.

Spot color is also a an excellent means to produce an art from photo. You can turn your photo more enchanting by making use of a whole range of color shades and making them more vivid and exciting. Spot color emphasizes a particular point more emphatically. E.g. you can have dazzling red roses remarkably painted in an otherwise black and white photograph. A child’s blue eyes too can be spotted in the similar way by letting rest of the artwork black and white. In a landscape piece of art, you can emphasize the rising or setting sun and the nearby sky. This sort of painting from your photo also is fantastic and offers a rich aura to your drawing room.

Five Great Concerts to Catch in 2011

Expert Author Jeff McRitchie

One of the best things about any new year is all the great concerts that are just around the corner. A lot of popular bands and artists are touring this year, so here are five great concerts you should catch:

  1. Eric Clapton. Some people get better with age. Eric Clapton is definitely one of them. The English bluesman-cum-rocker released his last CD last fall (simply titled Clapton) and he's now touring in support of it. In 2011, Clapton will hit big venues in Portland, Sacramento, and Las Vegas before heading over to the U.K. Be sure to check out a gig so you can hear classics like "Layla" and "Crossroads" played the way they were meant to be played: live.
  2. Rush. It seems like this Canadian band has been around forever with hits dating back to the 1970's but guess what? They're still going strong and are quite possibly more popular than ever. The band's classic songs "Tom Sawyer" and "Spirit of the Radio" are still played on the radio and the guys appeared in the 2009 film I Love You, Man.. This year finds the trio hitting the road for another leg of their successful Time Machine tour with stops in Austin, Los Angeles, and The Gorge, Washington among other places. Check them out if they come to a town near you. They're fantastic live.
  3. Katy Perry. Katy Perry, everyone's favorite pop chanteuse, will play some of her biggest hits when she hits the stage this summer. Thanks to her unique look and popular, chart-topping such songs as "Teenage Dream" and "Hot and Cold," Katy's shows promise to be great. Katy will begin her tour in the U.K. and will hit North America in June with gigs in Boston, Toronto, Denver, and Vancouver, B.C. Hit one of her shows if you're in the mood for great pop music.
  4. Kylie Minogue. Australian pop diva Kylie Minogue has legions of devoted fans overseas (especially in the U.K.), but her popularity in the U.S. waxes and wanes. Her 2010 album Aphrodite was a big dance hit in the States, so she's decided to do some North American dates in 2011 to promote the album. Her tour starts on April 28 in Montreal and will hit cities such as New York, Orlando, and San Francisco. Be ready to dance if you check out one of the shows because Kylie definitely puts on a great show.
  5. Nickelback. If you're in the mood for more Canadian rock, you'll be glad to know that Nickelback will once again be on the road this year. The band hasn't released an album since 2008, but they're still selling out arenas thanks to perennially popular rockers like "This is How You Remind Me" and ballads such as "Photograph." The band will play numerous cities in Canada (Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon) and most major markets in the States (Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Atlanta). Go to a show and get ready to rock.

There are a lot of big names giving shows this year, so if the above artists and bands aren't quite up your alley, there's a good chance that your favorite performer(s) will be playing. Have a great 2011 and enjoy the show!

How To Get A Job Onboard A Cruise Ship As A Musician Or Entertainer

If you are a full-time musician or singer and have performed the pub and club circuit for many years you might consider a career diversion into cruise ship entertainment. This type of work is perfect for those of you who are still single and before you settle down with a family.

It is an amazing way to see the world and actually get paid for it in the meantime. To get access to one of these jobs takes two paths mainly, the first is by knowing someone who does it already and asking them to arrange it or by applying yourself.

The main route this way is to ring all the entertainment agencies you can find on a search engine or a phone book. If you already work for these agents be sure to express your interest as it isn't something they'll offer out of the blue. If you have no luck then you can locate the company email and addresses of all the cruise ship companies. If you write a letter to the Events Team asking how you would go about obtaining work and in the letter be sure to ask for the name and number of the director of music. This sounds like a formal title but the music director is usually just the drummer or the one who has been on cruise ships the longest.

With all of these leads try and set up an actual audition, you should pay for a rehearsal room yourself and invite anyone from the industry you can to watch you. Offer complimentary food and drink, even if its crisps and pop. It all makes you look more professional in their eyes and as you will be living onboard 24/7 these impressions count.

If you're persistent and finally break through and go onboard you must know what skills you'll need. If you're there as one of the backing band for the large room where tribute acts and one off performances are you need to be highly skilled at reading sheet music and be proficient at playing a song first time without even knowing it sometimes purely from the sheet. So for the musically skilled of you this is a great job and most of the time you'll be in black at the back of the stage which means you don't need to worry about stage fright as the singer takes that pressure for you. Perfect.

Another job in cruise ship entertainer would be as a singer. You will more likely be in a bar area of the ship and will be singing to backing tracks. A nice touch here would be to play a guitar along with the tracks to give a sense of realism to the music and remove the karaoke singer stigma which sometimes comes with this job. You will normally do 3-4 30 minute shows six times a week so you'll need at least two hundred songs in your repertoire. Then double that figure as two hundred is for a week and most people cruise for two weeks and if you repeat the same song over you will find some very unhappy holiday makers.

A key skill of this job is interpersonal skills. You will be the one that bring that personal touch to the evening on the ship so you should banter with them and ask how their day was etc. You will also get officer privileges so you can eat/drink and socialise amongst the passengers which most of the other crew members cannot do. With that perk comes the responsibility to be respectful, kind and above all always on professionally.

It can be a fairly draining job even though its only a couple of hours a day as you live, eat and breathe the ship but when you're home you will have seen places in the world you may never have dreamt of going and most definitely will feel like a success.
