The Lucy Show, An American Comedy Show

The Lucy Show is an American comedy show that was created by Bob Carrol Jr., Madelyn Davis, Bob Schiller, Bob Weiskopf, and Lucille Ball. It was directed by Maury Thompson and Jack Donohue. It is telecasted for six seasons on CBS Network from October 1, 1962 to March 11, 1968, containing total 156 episodes, and the average length per episode was 30 minutes. During the period of 1962 to 1963 its picture format was black and white, but from 1963 to 1968 it was telecasted as a Colored series. It consists of totally 156 episodes the length of each is 30 minutes. Due to change in cast and premise for the 1965-66 season divides the show into two distinct eras. Gale Gordon, is the star who joined the show in its second season, and became as a regular cast. Vivian Vance was the costar for the first three seasons.

In 1962, two years after Lucille Ball breaks relation from Desi Arnaz and their final show aired. The shows named as The Ann Sothern Show and Pete and Gladys had been canceled. Desilu Studios was left with only one hit series in the spring 1962. Ball was offered by Desilu Studios to return to TV in a weekly sitcom. Ball not only carries a show without Arnaz, but also follow such a landmark series as I Love Lucy. Desilu can easily force the CBS network to invest in and air other upcoming Desilu products. Ball has a plan to use this strategy in the future, where instead of CBS renewing Lucy for another year; Ball would have the final say as to whether or not she wanted to continue her series. Ball agreed to do the show she was encouraged by Arnaz. Ball provided it be shown on Monday nights and agreed to reunite with Vivian Vance and her writers from I Love Lucy. CBS made the agreement for the episodes of the full season. The Lucy Show premiered again on Monday night, October 1, 1962 at 8:30 p.m.

Lucy Carmichael played by Lucille Ball is a widow with two children, Chris played by Candy Moore, and Jimmy Garrett whose role is played by Jerry, in Dandified, New York. At the start of the show, Lucille Ball share her home with divorced friend Vivian Bagley played by Vance and her son, Sheman by Ralph Hart.
