Bridgit Mendler is not a name that has been heard very often in Entertainment circles. In many ways, this is not surprising. When she initially moved from Washington D.C. to California, she had very little interest in acting roles. In fact, it was only when arrived in San Francisco aged eleven that the lures of acting first started to appeal to her. As she started to book local acting jobs, she decided it was time to get her first agent.
This agent only lasted two years, and, at age thirteen, she decided to move her acting interests to LA. Here she signed with the reputable Gersh agency. The move paid off. Shortly after this decision she landed a role on General Hospital, the ABC soap. This appearance kicked off her acting career, and she has been making a steady rise to stardom ever since.
In 2007, she starred in her first movie, Alice Upside Down. Although she did not have a major role, this opening into Hollywood would later lead to roles in The Clique and Labor Pains. Although these achievements are notable, ironically it is actually her TV career which may give her the biggest exposure.
In 2009, Bridgit was hired by the Disney channel to play Nick Jonas' love interest on the series premiere of JONAS. This led to huge exposure, and Disney saw potential in young Bridgit. Disney asked Bridgit to come back and star in a four part mini-series on the hit Disney show, Wizards of Waverly place, playing a lead vampire.
Her performance in Wizards of Waverly place confirmed to Disney what they already had suspected; Bridgit could be on the same level as Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez. Bridgit could act, could play the guitar and could sing. After this, Disney was quick to offer Bridgit her own show, Good Luck Charlie, where she will play a young girl trying to look after her sister while her parents are away.
Many people have started asking the inevitable question: will Bridgit be on the same level as Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus? Only time will tell, but what is certain is that Bridgit Mendler is definitely one to watch in the future.
