North India Festivals - A Heady Cocktail of Traditions and Entertainment

North India is an extraordinary land of innumerable attractions where rich cultural heritage enchants and greet you at every place. The glorious cultural heritage of this land has beautifully manifested in its fairs and festivals, which teem with sights and delights. North India is known for its colorful and unique fairs and festivals attracting tourists from across the globe.

The fairs and festivals of North India are of fascinating contrasts, with interesting rituals and legends attached to almost all of them. The fairs and festivals are the reflections of the passion of the people for life. Indescribable crowd gathers at the following fairs and festivals of Rajasthan, which draws tourists from far and wide.

  • Pushkar Fair: It is one of the largest cattle fair in the world held in Puskhar every year. Packed with a lot of cultural activities, the fair attracts thousands of tourists.
  • Urs Ajmer Sharif: Held in Ajmer at the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, this festival attracts people from different religious backgrounds. It is believed that no earnest prayer goes unanswered at the dargah.
  • Elephant Festival: Jaipur shines brightly with the arrival of this fabulous festival. The main attractions of the festival are the breathtakingly adorned elephants and the elephant sports. The 'elephant beauty pageant' is a striking feature of the festival. How enjoyable!
  • Desert Festival Come Desert Festival and the desert of Jaisalmer comes alive with camel dance, camel race, camel polo and dance and music performances by renowned artists of the country.
