Winter/Spring Fashion: Trousers

Whether you like to wear trousers everyday, or only own one or two pairs, trousers are nonetheless a wardrobe staple. They can look smart and chic or they can be dressed down and worn whilst lounging about in the house. Ever since the 1920s girls have been rocking the trouser look and we continue to strut our sexy stuff in trousers today. To keep you in trouser style, here are a few of the key trouser trends this winter/spring.

Loose white trousers

White is the colour of spring and loose white trousers are a key look for the season. These trousers would definitely be at home if worn on a beautiful Mediterranean pier or beach. They create a very glamorous look that is relaxed yet chic and would work for the day or evening. These type of trousers will suit your existing wardrobe if you like to wear nautical colours and have some gorgeous and sleek jackets and tops.

Bright colours

This season is all about colour blocking and stepping out in a riot of colour, so bright trousers are a must have. Rather than busy patterns, this trend centres upon plain but luminous colours. Almost any colour goes as long as it is bright and vivid. If you tend to wear cooler shades then go for a pair of deep turquoise trousers or trousers in a vibrant shade of midnight blue. If you tend to wear warmer colours then this is the trend for you as you can really go to town in bright shades of red, yellow and orange. For a sumptuous and regal look, hunt down a pair of deep purple or sumptuous green trousers.

Tangerine

It may not be the first colour you think of when putting together an outfit, but if you're brave with your fashion choices go for a pair of tangerine trousers. This shade of orange is huge this spring thanks to fashion houses like Hermes and Prada. This look will work for any style of trousers as long as they're in tangerine. One style that looks particularly good is slim line cigarette pants as they stop the bright shade from seeming silly and keep the look elegant.

Nude

Of course, don't take this literally; nude simply means pale shades of pink, cream and brown that emulate skin tone. This look is fantastically sleek and minimal and is a really contemporary style. Chloe showcased some nude trousers that were created in a soft fabric and hung loosely in a sport lux style. Hermes opted for some cropped nude trousers that they combined with deep plunge neck shirts. This look would be great for the office or for lunchtime drinks. Wide-legged nude trousers will look really elegant and could be teamed with a camel coloured top.
