13 killed in Karachi after ANP leader assassination

KARACHI: The city descended into violence after Awami National Party’s provincial leader Ubaid-ullah Yousuf Zai was gunned down with another man on Thursday, Geo News reported.

At least 13 people were killed and 40 others sustained injuries in the latest wave of violence that engulfed the city in the aftermath of the incident.

As soon as the news of killing of Ubaid-ullah Yousuf Zai broke, the city, descended into disorder with incidents of killings, firing and setting ablaze of vehicles reported from across the metropolis.

Over a dozen vehicles were reportedly torched in Landhi, Sultanabad, Tower, Abul Hasan Isphahani Road, Shah Faisal Colony and Keemari.

Many of the city’s commercial centers including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Banaras, Qasba Colony, and Orangi Town were seen shut down with commuters struggling for safety.
