A bar is a kind of establishment that sells alcoholic beverages to its customers for straightaway consumption on the premises itself. Bars are also known as pubs. As opposite to the common belief, there is no observable difference between bars and pubs. All the same, Bars in hotels may be known as long bars or hotel lounges. Today, many bars are even providing food to be eaten at the bar.
Traditionally, drinking is not part of India's culture. Here, the Indian bars can be divided into two classes: sleazy local bars patronized by male population of low socioeconomic background, and swisher joints catering to the trendier and upcoming upper and middle class crowd and can only be found in all major cities.
A new class of bars called resto-pub or resto-bar is also coming into being. These bars are eateries and restaurants that also serve drink. A stylish example of a resto-bar is iifa Buzz in Kingdom of Dreams, in Delhi's hip suburb of Gurgaon. Gurgaon has become very multi-ethnic in current years and is invariably coming up with fashionable new bars in and around MG road. Also, new clubs that are open late into nights are usually only found in five star hotels and occasionally in shopping malls. These clubs are very costly, charging as high as 2,500 INR and only the rich people can afford these places. These clubs offer world class facilities with the latest musical tracks.
Delhi is the place for hectic traveler offering hangouts with lively atmosphere and affordable drinks. Gurgaon, with its large blend of the corporate crowd, has a flourishing pub culture with plenty of bars and pubs. The Pubs and Bars in Delhi and Gurgaon are filled with revellers throughout the year. Most of the bars in Gurgaon are located in swanky malls. Each bar has its own style of music and also music can be played on request. Bars are getting more and more popular with the tourists as it is here that one can enjoy the night with friends.
